HopDrop ("we", "us", "our") operates the HopDrop platform at hopdrop.in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. You choose your role (sender, traveler, or both) during registration.

Delivery Information

When you create a delivery request, we collect pickup and drop-off cities, item description, weight, declared value, delivery date, and your offered price.

Travel Information

When you list a trip, we collect your departure and destination cities, travel date, travel mode, and available carrying capacity.

Payment Information

Payments are processed through Razorpay. We do not store your credit card, debit card, or bank account details. Razorpay handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.

Device Information

We may collect basic device and browser information (IP address, browser type, operating system) for security and fraud prevention.

Verification Information

If you choose to verify your identity, we may collect:

LinkedIn profile data (name, email, profile photo) via LinkedIn OAuth when you connect your LinkedIn account. We access only your basic profile and email. We do not access your connections, posts, messages, or any other LinkedIn data. We cannot post on your behalf.
Aadhaar verification status (verified or not verified) via DigiLocker. We do not store your Aadhaar number.

How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To match senders with travelers on the same route
To process payments and hold funds in escrow
To display your profile information to matched parties
To send notifications about delivery status updates
To verify your identity for trust and safety
To improve our platform and fix issues
To communicate important updates about the service

We do not:

Sell your personal data to third parties
Share your contact details with unmatched users
Use your data for advertising
Access or store your LinkedIn connections or posts
Store your payment card details

Information Sharing

We share limited information only in these cases:

With your matched sender or traveler (name, rating, verification status, and contact details only after payment is confirmed)
With Razorpay for payment processing
With LinkedIn only during the OAuth verification flow
If required by law or to prevent fraud

Data Retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. Delivery request and match data is retained for 12 months after completion for dispute resolution purposes. You can request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, and session token authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

You can:

Access your personal data through your profile page
Update or correct your information at any time
Disconnect LinkedIn verification from your profile
Delete your account by contacting us at founder@hopdrop.in
Request a copy of your data

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
